Maderotherapy
Would you like to achieve smoother skin, take care of your figure, and treat yourself to some time dedicated to your well-being? Madero therapy is a massage technique that uses wooden tools to work on different areas of the body. At Daya Spa, this treatment is part of a holistic approach to well-being, with techniques tailored to your needs and sensitivity.
What is maderotherapy ?
Originating in Latin America, and particularly associated with Colombia, maderotherapy is a massage technique that uses wooden instruments designed to conform to different areas of the body. Its name? It simply comes from the Spanish word madera, which means “wood.”
In short, each tool has a specific shape and function. Depending on the area being treated and the desired outcome, the practitioner uses different techniques: rolling, pressure, and drainage strokes. The intensity is adjusted to each person’s sensitivity to provide a personalized experience.
What are the benefits of maderotherapy ?
Maderotherapy is valued for its mechanical action on the tissues and for the feeling of lightness it can provide. Its effects vary depending on the individual, the frequency of sessions, and skin characteristics. Here’s a quick look at the main benefits !
Improving the appearance of the skin
Thanks to the movements performed with wooden tools, maderotherapy works on the tissues and can help make the skin appear smoother. It is particularly sought after for reducing the appearance of cellulite.
However, it’s important to remember that cellulite is a natural phenomenon and that results vary from person to person. Maderotherapy cannot guarantee its permanent elimination.
Stimulating circulation and promoting drainage
Massage movements can temporarily promote local circulation. When tailored and performed with drainage in mind, they can also help create a sensation of lighter legs.
Lymphatic drainage, however, involves specific techniques: a maderotherapy massage should not be confused with lymphatic drainage performed according to a dedicated protocol.
Visually tone the figure
By targeting specific areas such as the thighs, buttocks, abdomen, or arms, maderotherapy can help temporarily improve the appearance of the figure.
It is not a substitute for regular physical activity or a balanced diet, nor is it a weight-loss method. Rather, it is part of a holistic approach to body care and well-being.
Treat yourself to a wellness break
Beyond its aesthetic goals, a maderotherapy session is also an opportunity to take some time for yourself. The techniques and pressure levels are tailored to your sensitivity to ensure a comfortable and personalized experience.

What happens during a maderotherapy session at Daya Spa ?
At Daya Spa, each session is tailored to your needs and the areas you’d like to address. It combines the use of massage oils with various wooden tools, selected based on the techniques to be performed.
Important : the treatment is personalized based on the targeted areas, your expectations, and your individual sensitivity. A preliminary consultation with the practitioner helps determine whether this technique is suitable for your situation.
Areas of the body treated
Maderotherapy can target several parts of the body, depending on your goals:
- The thighs and buttocks, which are often areas of concern regarding cellulite.
- The abdomen and hips, to refine the body’s contours.
- The arms, to improve the appearance of the skin in this area.
The choice of treatment areas and techniques is determined with the practitioner at the beginning of the session.
How long does a session last ?
At Daya Spa, maderotherapy, lymphatic drainage, and kneading-rolling treatments are offered as 60-minute sessions, depending on the package selected.
This time allows you to focus on the areas identified with the practitioner and enjoy a moment truly dedicated to your well-being.
For those who wish to work on their skin’s appearance more regularly, a treatment course can be considered based on their goals. The best results are generally seen when a treatment course is combined with proper hydration, a balanced diet, and regular physical activity.
A customer testimonial :
It was my first time trying a treatment with wooden tools, and I was pleasantly surprised from the very first minutes! The sensations are really different from those of a traditional massage. The soft sound of the wooden tools is actually very soothing—it adds to the overall experience.
I’d chosen a full-body treatment, and honestly, I felt like I’d been transported to another world! I especially wanted to try this massage because I was feeling bloated, without really knowing if it was due to water retention or something else.
This type of massage is specifically designed to promote drainage and provide a feeling of lightness. And I have to say, I was blown away by how I felt after the session! When I left, I really felt lighter, with an incredible sense of well-being.
It’s definitely a treatment I’m now recommending to everyone I know. I loved this combination of relaxation, unique sensations, and targeted work on the body. A wonderful discovery!
Maderotherapy : what are the contraindications ?
Reminder : even though it is performed in a wellness setting, maderotherapy is not suitable for everyone. In certain situations, you should avoid the massage or seek medical advice beforehand. In particular, it is not recommended or requires special precautions:
- During pregnancy, depending on the stage and the areas involved.
- In the presence of severe varicose veins or venous disorders.
- In cases of inflammation, infection, or skin lesions in the area to be massaged.
- After recent surgery, until authorized by a healthcare professional.
- In cases of severe capillary fragility, coagulation disorders, or when taking medications that increase the risk of bleeding.
If you have a chronic illness, a circulatory problem, or any concerns about your health, consult a healthcare professional before booking your session.
The preliminary consultation also allows us to verify the absence of contraindications and tailor the treatment to your specific situation.
